Bryan ISD school board sees the proposed timeline to replace the Merrill Green Stadium fieldhouse and video board

This podcast contains comments from the April 6, 2026 Bryan ISD school board meeting.The first major construction project in a $397 million dollar bond issue passed by voters in Bryan ISD last November will be replacing the Merrill Green stadium fieldhouse and video board.BISD board members were told during Monday night's meeting (April 6) by the district's construction manager, Bobby Griffin, that the nearly $36 million dollar project will take the rest of this year to design.The old fieldhouse will be razed to make room for the new fieldhouse, which is not projected to open until May 2028.Alternative locations will be used for fieldhouse functions and the stadium will remain open.The projected timeline calls for the three year old video board, which is attached to the current fieldhouse, will be removed in December and demolition of the current fieldhouse could start next February.
