BSCC 093 - Welcome to the BSC, Abby

from Strange Bedfellows · host Jack Shepherd and Tanner Greenring

Who was John Stevenson and what did he know? These are some of the tough questions that this fascinating novel asks us, but it also asks us to look deep inside ourselves and take an unerring look at what we might find there. Which is exactly what our brave boys do this week, as they grapple with difficult truths like whether new baby-sitter Abby Stevenson is the best baby-sitter now that Dawn’s gone; whether it’s ever appropriate to question Kristy Thomas’s authority; and what, precisely, this all has to do with Hellraiser. The bravest of the two boys also takes this opportunity to admit that he was wrong and to accept the consequences of his terrible mistake. Not to make excuses, not to ask for forgiveness – but to own what he has done and to pay for it. With his life. Also, there’s some good stuff about bees, Druscilla Destiny, and Abby’s burgeoning stand-up career, so strap in for a wild ride. Music credits: “Empty Promise,” by UEMonthly “The Evil Carnival,” by Robert Austin “Drops of Jupiter remix,” by Jesse Bloch “Carnival Lament,” by Robert Austin “Jane’s Lament,” by EMSonora Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Bye Bye Empire for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices. Explicit The Midnight Cinema Screening Unkn  Welcome to The Midnight Cinema Screening. This is basically the place where we hang out after midnight and talk about movies and TV shows that stuck with us… the good, the bad, the weird, and the ones that probably shouldn’t exist but somehow do. I also talk about true crime. If you love horror, cult classics, creepy shows, and the occasional random deep dive into something strange, you’re in the right place. Nothing here is super scripted or overly serious. It’s more like sitting around with friends after a late-night movie, breaking down what worked, what didn’t, and the moments that made you pause the screen and go, “Wait… what just happened?”Some episodes we’ll be reviewing movies. Some we’ll be talking about TV episodes. And sometimes we’ll just go down a rabbit hole about the weird history behind something we watched. So if you like late-night movie talk, dark stories, and conversations that feel a little unfiltered Explicit
