BSCSC 004 - Baby-Sitters' Island Adventure
from Strange Bedfellows · host Jack Shepherd and Tanner Greenring
The Baby-Sitters Club Super Special #4: Baby-Sitters' Island Adventure chronicles the peripatetic appointments and encounters of Claudia Kishi and Dawn Schafer in Stoneybrook in the course of an ordinary day, 10 June 1991. "Claudia" is the Latinised name of Odysseus, the hero of Homer's epic poem the Odyssey, and the novel establishes a series of parallels between the poem and the novel, with structural correspondences between the characters and experiences of Claudia/Dawn and Odysseus, Becca Ramsey and Penelope, and Jamie Newton and Telemachus, in addition to events and themes of the early 20th-century context of modernism, Stoneybrook, and Connecticut's relationship to Britain. The novel is highly allusive and also imitates the styles of different periods of English literature. [1] Music Credits: “All Our Clocks Are Dying” by Ergo Phizmiz “Simple Yodel” by Steven Arntson “The One You Loved Is Gone” by Soularflair “My Sharona” (MIDI Version) originally performed by The Knack Notes: Ulysses (novel). From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. (Accessed Winter 2018.) Thanks to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music and Superbrat for the outro music. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jack-shepherd8/support Learn more about your ad choices.
