from Jane Wilkens Michael Better Than Before · host Jane & Laurie

Passing through adversity - Jane’s very special guest today is Alex Smith. And there is no better model for perseverance and success than this former star NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst. In 2018, during a Washington Commanders' (then Redskins) game, he suffered a life-threatening injury to his right leg. His triumphant return to the field less than two years later is regarded as one of the most historic moments in pro football history.  Indeed, he helped lead his team to an NFC East title while he himself earned the title of NFL Comeback Player of the Year. His story about the injury was documented in a special edition of ESPN’s E60, Project 11. Alex's arduous path to recovery set the stage for his new endeavor, speaking about the realities of pain and encouraging people to have a game plan. To that end, he is partnering with Vertex Pharmaceuticals on their Pain Game Plan campaign to empower people to develop a personalized pain management strategy to be ready for the expected, like a planned surgery, or unexpected, like an injury. On this segment, Alex and Jane talk about how he, his doctors and his family had to make life-changing decisions, his intense rehabilitation, and his new campaign. Furthermore, he shares the positive mantras that gave him the mental fortitude to keep going and can help all listeners become Better Than Before despite whatever setbacks they face.

The Professionals Infosys Knowledge Institute Lawyers, accountants, and consultants reveal their secrets to success and discuss future trends in The Professionals, an Infosys Knowledge Institute podcast. Hosted by Samad Masood, a former journalist and industry analyst with more than 20 years experience observing this dynamic and ever growing industry. Wounded Warriors of the Cross Gary Pastoral and clergy mental health is a mostly ignored area, especially by those who live their lives as pastors in the clergy. The stigma of mental health within those who serve in the shadow of the cross is something that invokes the stigma of fear. Many of those in the clergy will choose to suffer in their despair rather than reaching out for help. Sometimes those suffering choose to wait until it's too late to get the real help that they need. At Wounded Warriors of the Cross our mission is to lift the stigma and the veil of silence that encompasses clergy mental health and assist those who suffer in silence. Wounded Warriors of the Cross is here to shed the light of Christ's love into those dark places. NEWMORROW SESSIONS - A PodCast Series on the Future of Hospitality Mario C. Bauer, Florian Schneider, Axel Weber & Dr. Tillman Bardt The Newmorrow PodCast is more than a podcast — it's a platform for open dialog on the future of our business, a platform for those building what doesn’t exist yet. Here, we share and embrace our passion for the hospitality industry, but we won’t romanticize the journey. We ask the tough questions, confront uncomfortable truths, and prepare for a future that resists easy answers. We believe that the tougher and wilder times become, the more openly, honestly and humanely people need to talk to each other and act together. We believe, openness, togetherness, and truthfulness should also be cornerstones of a professional community to develop our utopian idea of „open source“. This is a space where visionaries don’t just imagine the future — they wrestle with the paradoxes that shape it: success vs. happiness, data vs. instinct, stability vs. reinvention. Join leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers as they share not what made them — but what’s actively shaping them, now and next.
