Andrew then brought his brother, Simon Peter, to meet Jesus, who gave Simon the new name Cephas (Peter), meaning "rock."Jesus continued to call others, such as Philip and Nathanael, and fishermen by the Sea of Galilee, whom he promised to make "fishers of men." These men immediately left their professions to follow him.Ultimately, Jesus chose twelve men to be his disciples, such as 1. Simon (also called Peter), 2. James, 3. John, 4. Andrew, 5. Philip, 6. Bartholomew, 7. Matthew, 8. Thomas, 9. James the son Alphaeus, 10. Thaddaeus, 11. Simon the Zealot, and 12. Judas Iscariot. Judas Iscariot would later betray Jesus. These twelve disciples then followed Jesus everywhere for the next three years of his ministry on earth.
