Building a Brand That Fits with Hayley Segar

from Decide It's Your Turn®: The Podcast · host christina lecuyer

Entrepreneur Hayley Segar joins Christina to share the story behind building One with Swim, the company known for its simple promise: swimwear that fits like underwear. Hayley opens up about the long road from idea to launch, explaining how a moment of frustration with uncomfortable swimwear in 2019 sparked the concept. What followed was more than two years of research, development, and learning how to build a business from the ground up. The conversation also explores what happened after Hayley appeared on Shark Tank, where she secured a deal with Barbara Corcoran and Jamie Kern Lima. She shares what the experience was really like behind the scenes, including the months-long wait between filming and the episode airing. Hayley and Christina also discuss the mindset required to build something new, the importance of maintaining boundaries as a founder, and the small habits—like daily walking—that support long-term wellbeing while running a business. Looking ahead, Hayley shares how she’s shifting the brand beyond her personal identity and using years of customer data to guide the next phase of growth. About Hayley Hayley Segar is the founder of onewith, the brand behind the patented swimsuits that fit like underwear®. Hayley launched onewith after a lightbulb moment in 2019: "I just want a swimsuit that fits like my favorite no-show underwear." That one sentence sparked a category-creating idea that changed everything. Since launching in 2021, Hayley has grown onewith from a self-funded startup into a viral, size-inclusive swimwear brand, celebrated for its dig-free, elastic-free, edgeless design. In 2025, she pitched the brand on Shark Tank and secured a deal with 2 Sharks, further cementing onewith as a standout solution in an oversaturated industry. That same year, onewith was also granted a utility patent for their category-creating swim.
