Building a Foundation of Trust, a Conversation with My Homeschooled Teen Son

from Happy, Holy Mama · host Emily Brown

When my third oldest son was little he was a screamer.  Like multiple times a day for at least 20 minutes at a time and we spent years trying to figure him out.  We tried parenting trick after parenting trick, with very little success. Ultimately, you know what worked? Patience, love, compassion, and a willingness to be in the hard part with him, instead of wishing it was over. That's what helped us build a foundation of trust that allowed him to learn the tools that could help him have a good life. But the real trick was that I had to learn them for myself first. And like Jacob shares in our conversation on today's podcast, he had to decide to go first in his own way, too.  And now here we are 10 years later and we want to share our journey with you! I am so excited to share an inspiring and powerful conversation that I had with my incredibly brave 15 year old son, Jacob on the podcast today.
