Subscription boxes are everywhere now and they’re a total win:win – as a business owner you get reliable monthly recurring revenue and as a customer you get to look forward to a regular delivery of something wonderful.

But how do you start one up and how do you make it profitable?

This week I’m delighted to be talking to Helen Burgess, Founder of Little Cooks Co. - a subscription box business that supplies families with fun, tasty and nutritious cooking kits each month.

Helen quit her job in strategy at No.10 whilst on maternity leave to follow her passion and retrain in nutrition. Once qualified she knew she wanted to start a business but had no idea how she was going to do it. It took a while to face her fear of failure head on, but within two years she was sending out 500 boxes a month, with no marketing spend. Soon after Helen got investment . She now sends out 5000 boxes a month and has 9 members of staff all working flexibly around their families.

Listen to this podcast to hear Helen’s journey and how she’s managed to create this success, as well as her key recommendations for starting up and growing a subscription box business.

I hope you enjoy my interview with Helen Burgess.
