Building community with the Strong Water Women

from Medicine for the Resistance · host patty krawec

Building community takes a lot of different forms. This episode, recorded live at the Fort Erie Friendship Center features the Strong Water Women, a hand drum group in the Niagara Region. The group has been active for approximately 5 years, has performed at events throughout the community, including the Celebration of Nations at First Ontario Place in St. Catharines as well as vigils and smaller community events. This episode does have a lot of background noise, because it is recorded during a normal drum night, giving you the experience of being right in the midst of the activity. Featuring some conversations, introductions, songs, and a lot of laughter. This is also the second time that Sabrina Shawana has joined the podcast, she is the heart of the group. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit medicinefortheresistance.substack.com
