Building Expansion (Christopher Alton)
from Living Rock Podcast Hosted by Living Rock Church
In this message, Christopher explores what the Bible teaches about deacons—people called to serve the church in practical and essential ways—beginning with Acts 6, where the first deacons were appointed to care for widows and free the apostles to focus on prayer and preaching. Through passages like 1 Timothy 3:8-13 and Philippians 1, Christopher reveals that deacons are not a hierarchical leadership but valued team members whose integrity, wisdom, self-control, and solid faith enable the church to function well and grow; crucially, they serve for a season and both men and women can be called to this role. As you listen, consider: Do I have a heart to serve Christ's church in practical, behind-the-scenes ways, and am I willing to lay down my life to help our community grow and flourish?
