Building for the Next Generation Day 5: Building for People You Will Never Meet Devotional Some of the most meaningful things you will ever do, you will never see the results of. That is not a discouraging thought. It is one of the most freeing truths in the Christian life. The early church did not build for themselves. They built for the people coming behind them. Every generation of faithful believers received something from the generation before it, and every generation carries the duty to pass something forward. You are not the end of the story. You are a chapter in something much larger. Ephesians 3:10 says that through the church the wisdom of God is being made known to rulers and authorities in heavenly places. The spiritual realm steps back, watches what you do in the local church, and is astonished. Your ordinary faithfulness there is not just affecting the people in the room. It carries cosmic weight. You will give, serve, and sacrifice for a building, a ministry, or a mission that benefits people who are not yet born. That is exactly the point. We are building for the next generation of Christians. Live with that long view. Give with it. Watch how it changes everything.
