In this highlight from Roots & Branches of Lehi, Melissa Everett shares her journey from small-town beginnings to helping build a global education program that’s changing lives. After leaving Wyoming and transitioning from a health and fitness background into teaching, Melissa became part of the first group of online instructors for what would grow into BYU–Pathway Worldwide. What started as a preparatory initiative has since expanded into a worldwide effort, reaching students in nearly 190 countries and focusing on those often overlooked—the “hidden many.” But the journey wasn’t without challenges. From major system transitions and data setbacks to a difficult season described as a “Martins Cove” moment, the program endured growing pains while staying committed to its mission: providing accessible, job-ready education.
