It is open and we are thrilled to hear the story and learn how everyone came together for this project. We meet Lissette Jimenez from the City of Boerne Parks and Recreation department. She is joined by Keith Brady, the founder and President of Agave Design Studio. We learn a lot about the River Road Park project and the legacy of local. Find your favorite master plan and get involved! Running along Cibolo Creek, River Road Park is one of the most popular parks in Boerne. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the paved Cibolo Trail spanning the length of the park or drop a hook in the water (license required) and see what you catch. The River Road Park Bank Stabilization project began in September of 2023 with several focus areas, the first being the stabilization and restoration of the bank of Cibolo Creek which had eroded significantly over the years. With the creekbank restored, more clearly defined pedestrian access points have been prioritized along with a buffer space between the sidewalk and the water to maintain the creek edge. Thousands of native plants and vegetation were also planted to improve stormwater runoff. The renovations, which go beyond landscaping to include new interpretive signs, a 250-foot pedestrian boardwalk, and three additional fishing piers, also focus on unseen improvements like the removal of 4,000 cubic yards sediment from the river, as highlighted by Parks and Recreation Director Lissette Jimenez. River Road Park is right across the street from several local restaurants and shops. Be sure to use the designated pedestrian crossing while grabbing a bite to eat.
