Building Women's Financial Confidence After A Divorce

from Divorce Money And Hope · host Chris McLean, CMC

My name is Chris McLean.I was born and raised in a single mother home with four other children, where there was very little money, even less child support and alimony that barely existed.I actually lived my entire life experiencing what a woman goes through both emotionally and financially after divorce.I experienced my mother struggling to keep a roof over our heads without the financial, and more importantly, the emotional support she deserved. It wasn't until I was working on my Masters Degree in psychology when I realized my adult financial behaviors and beliefs were literally patterned after those of a divorced women which explained why I was also experienced financial insecurity throughout my entire life. I had no other guide on how to handle money except the one I inherited through my mother’s best efforts. After completing my degree, I became a Certified Money Coach (CMC) and a clinically trained relationship therapist (CIRT) and devoted my life to helping women just like my mother rebuild their confidence and their finances, without harsh budgets and without sending already stressed women into overwhelm.I now teach “The Money Confidence Course" using the Fear to Clear Method written specifically to address the needs of women who are rebuilding their lives after divorce. Unlike traditional budgeting courses that are harsh and restrictive, the money confidence course meets women where they're at by building up the inner strength they have while teaching very simple and actionable financial tools that make a real difference in their lives. This podcast is an extension of that teaching and a resource I hope you'll enjoy and share with others.Chris McLean,  MA
