Hello and welcome to the Center for Success Career Talk Podcast, a series that provides tips and advice for fine-tuning your resume, networking and getting that first job. The hosts for the series are members of the Center for Success at St. Xavier University in Chicago. Hello.
My name is Alexander Mendoza. I am the STEM Academic Success Coats from the Center for Success at St. Xavier University. Today, we will be speaking on the importance of developing an online presence for our Career Talk series.
Social platforms primarily focused on professional development, like LinkedIn and Handshake, are extremely popular for connecting business professionals together. Other platforms that can be utilized for professional enrichment include TikTok and Instagram. It's all about the opportunities that you find and engage in. By engaging in your perspective field, you become more knowledgeable in your desired career and for the employer that you're applying to.
This can help you become a standout candidate. Networking in a technology-focused era makes everything accessible through our mobile devices, so you'll want to make sure to integrate yourself with as many events as you can, familiarize yourself with the job market and those within it. Navigating unfamiliar territory can be intimidating. We may find comfort in making a few connections, attending familiar events, and sticking with one perspective.
But we should view the occupational field as a fluid one. With diverse social networks, many business professionals can get to know one another. This can lead to learning about unexpected job sectors, on her job positions, or unlikely relationships that can prosper into internships or careers. Please join me for my next podcast where I dive into different social media sites dedicated to the job search.
