BULLYING AND THE SILENT MAJORITY - Episode 47

from Film Pro Productivity · host Carter Ferguson

Today I’ll be tackling a form of behaviour which I see more and more often, and it took me a number of years to realise that BULLIES are as much a part of adult life as they were in school - but I’ve had enough of them, and I have started calling them out when they raise their ugly heads. They don’t like it though. They don’t like it at all....For a full transcript of this episode please go to the official website https://www.filmproproductivity.com/ Quotes:“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” -  Eleanor Roosevelt“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.” -  Abraham Lincoln“Bullying builds character like nuclear waste creates superheroes. It's a rare occurrence and often does much more damage than good.”  - Zack W. Van“When one person makes an accusation, check to be sure he himself is not the guilty one. Sometimes it is those whose case is weak who make the most clamour.” -  Piers Anthony“One’s dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked, but it can never be taken away unless it is surrendered.” - Michael J Fox“In too many ways, political correctness has been a bully.” -  Judge Judy Sheindlin“Bullies lose their power if you don’t cower. Deep down, they doubt they deserve your respect. They admire you for speaking with self-assurance and confidence. So when they bombard, don’t counterpunch. Rather, win them over with your strong, firm, courteous demeanour.” And “know that the victim does not intend to be victimized. It does not seek forgiveness, but does not pose a challenge either.” - Amy Cooper Hakim of PSYCHOLOGY TODAYSTAY CONNECTED. “Bullies operate by making their victims feel alone and powerless.” - Signe Whitson“The trick is to remain polite and professional while still setting your limits firmly. Don't let the bully get under your skin—that's what he wants. Practice your response so you're prepared the next time something happens and you can respond swiftly without getting emotional. Keep it simple and straightforward, for example: ‘I won’t be talked to in this way.” - Chrissy Scivicque"Nobody can hurt me without my permission."  — Mahatma Gandhi“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” - Martin Luther King Jr“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” Martin Luther King, Jr“The Bully has a Jekyll and Hyde nature - is vile, vicious and vindictive in private, but innocent and charming in front of witnesses; no-one can (or wants to) believe this individual has a vindictive nature - only the current target of the serial bully's aggression sees both sides; whilst the Jekyll side is described as "charming" and convincing enough to deceive personnel, management and a tribunal, the Hyde side is frequently described as "evil"; Hyde is the real person, Jekyll is an act.” -  Tim Field  “My pain may be the reason for somebody's laugh. But my laugh must never be the reason for somebody's pain.” -  Charlie Chaplin  “I would rather be a little nobody, then to be a evil somebody.” -  Abraham Lincoln You can find out more about the show on these links.OFFICIAL WEBSITE: https://www.filmproproductivity.com/TWITTER: @filmproprodpodFACEBOOK: @filmproproductivityCONTACT: https://www.filmproproductivity.com/contact Sources:https://www.topresume.com/career-advice/how-to-handle-bullying-at-workwww.respectme.org.ukhttp://www.mightyfighter.com/bullying-quotes/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Bullying_Dayhttps://www.caba.org.uk/help-and-guides/information/dealing-workplace-bullyinghttps://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/happiness-and-the-pursuit-leadership/201602/bullies-causeMusic: Adventures by A Himitsu https://www.soundcloud.com/a-himitsuCreative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported— CC BY 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b...
