The former centre-back is regarded as one of the best Norwegian footballers of all time. He was the first Norwegian to win a European club competition, won the Bundesliga and the German Cup twice, won the Norwegian League, and captained both Werder Bremen and Norway during the first half of the 90s, including the World Cup in 1994.We discuss his unconventional start in professional football, the success of Werder Bremen and his second home, the undefined aura of the legendary Otto Rehhagel, breaking records with the Norwegian national team, thoughts on Werder Bremen ahead of this season, and last but not least, his Dream XI consisting of players he's played with.During his impressive career in Germany, "Der Elch" was named “Foreigner of the Year “ in 1987/88, “Libero of the Year” in 1988, “Team of the Year” in 1987/88 and 1988/89, and “Team of the Week” 34 times from 1986 to 1994.
