Buried Gas Meters A Public Safety Risk This Winter
from KBUT · host KBUT
The Crested Butte Fire Protection District is asking residents and property managers to dig out gas meters from residences and businesses. The CBFPD has responded to over a dozen calls about the smell of gas in the past few days, and there has even been an evacuation. Leaving a gas meter buried is a major public safety hazard. They're also asking residents who park their vehicles to leave enough room for emergency vehicles to access side streets and neighborhoods during the daytime. For info on how to find a buried gas meter, call Atmos Energy at 641-2729 or call the CBFPD at 349-5333 with any other questions about public safety.
