Burlington Tackles City Hall Park | Montpelier News

Burlington’s City Hall Park is getting a major makeover with a bold, multi-pronged strategy to tackle crime and revitalize the space—think mobile cameras, calming music, daily cleanups, and blocked-off parking spots—all while aiming to foster community safety without pushing people out. Inspired by lessons from the Fletcher Free Library, city leaders are testing flexible tactics, including new security measures and social support, as they prepare to pass a council resolution targeting disruptive behavior. With 11 arrests already made for minor drug offenses and portable toilets now installed, this isn’t just about enforcement—it’s about creating a more welcoming, peaceful environment through smart, coordinated action.
