Deep Playa, Tuesday Night, Dragomi Art Car | Black Rock City, NV | 29 August 2018 As that 'magical time of the year' comes around yet again and so many of my friends and wonderful connections around the world converge for That Thing in the Desert, I actually look forward to slowing down a little after a rather ambitious 8 months personal sabbatical mainly involving galavanting around the globe and finding my tribe. Looking back to 1 year ago and my first burn, and everything I have encountered there and since, mostly I am grateful, and so thankful to have surrounded myself with so many bright, beautiful, and downright brilliant humans from all walks of life. Our time with the Dragomi who we hosted at Camp DRIFT last year, was at times contentious as things can get in the heat and the dust, but overall it was a memorable time, and one of those special nights and mornings was following our debut of Franchise Freedom with luminous composer & pianist Joep Beving, with support from the mighty Mayan Warrior (incredible thanks to Pablo, Mauricio and the MW family) and Eelke Kleijn @eelke-kleijn. This spontaneous set cruising around after the first show was done and dusted was my way to coming down from the previous 5hrs' adrenaline rush supporting the sound production of our flying sculpture installation and piano performance while managing & curating the music on the Dragomi. The music has always been and will continue to be the drug that makes it possible.
