Business Rundown: The President's Plan To Make Housing Affordable Again

from The Fox News Rundown · host FOX News Podcasts

Good news this week as mortgage rates fell again, hitting their lowest level in more than three years. According to Freddie Mac, the average rate on the benchmark 30-year fixed mortgage decreased to 6.06%, down from last week’s reading of 6.16%. While there appears to be progress in the housing market, President Trump has made it clear that his administration is working to provide direct relief to homebuyers. Part of that plan involves directing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to purchase $200 billion in mortgage-backed securities to further drive down borrowing costs. The President is also working to ban large institutional investors from buying single-family homes—and to allow potential buyers to use their 401 (k) funds for down payments. Jessica Lautz, who is the Deputy Chief Economist and Vice President of Research At The National Association of Realtors, joins the FOX Business Network’s Gerri Willis to discuss the state of the housing market, some of the President's ideas, and what can be done to make the American dream more affordable.
