We open Romans 7 with Paul’s marriage imagery and a blunt real-world comparison: debt follows legal bonds, and sin is a debt the law can identify but never erase. Once you see what the law actually does, you stop asking it to do what only Jesus can do. We talk through what it means to die with Christ and belong to the risen Christ, and why that union changes your relationship to God’s law. Sin is either breaking God’s law or failing to match it, and none of us escapes that standard. That’s why we keep coming back to the same point: Jesus obeys perfectly, bears the full penalty, and supplies the righteousness believers need.
