Bob Lord, an Institute for Policy Studies associate fellow and senior vice president for tax policy at Patriotic Millionaires, talks about his most recent article: "$55 Billion in Stock Buyback Wealth for Google Oligarchs" in which he details how a 1982 SEC rule change has turbocharged America’s extreme wealth concentration, adding $55 billion to the wealth piles of Larry Page and Sergey Brin alone. Lord says that the ability to avoid taxes allows these uber-rich to compound their earnings, all the while they spend hundreds of millions of dollars trying to defeat new wealth tax proposals.
