BVTLD Presents: Bede & Sam Vs. The Video Nasties Episode 6 - Blood Feast (1963)
from Bede Vs. The Living Dead · host The BVTLD Network
Welcome to the episode 6 of Bede & Sam Vs. The Video Nasties. So far for the podcast, most of the films that your hosts Bede Jermyn & Sam Inglis have tackled from the Section 1 DDP have been films that were released in the '70s and '80s. Which is understandble given that violence, sex and gore had become a bit more extreme during those decades in film. However back in the early '60s, filmmaker Herschell Gordon Lewis (The Wizard Of Gore, Two Thousand Maniacs!) challeneged cinema's approach to onscreen violence with his landmark 1963 indie splatter film Blood Feast. Joining Bede & Sam to discuss this very bloody influential bit of cinema is first-time guest John Seavey (Half Price Horror). Highlights include how John first became aware of the Video Nasties, the hilarious bad performances from the cast, Bede being amazed how a film this gory came out in 1963, praise the film's low budget charm, wonder if Mal Arnold's performance was inspired by Bela Lugosi and so much more.Social Media Links:Show Twitter/BlueSky - @BedeVsTLD, @bedevstldHosts Twitter/X - @BedeJermyn, @24FPSUKHosts BlueSky - @BedeJermyn, @24FPSUKHosts on Letterboxd - @BedeJermyn, @24FPSUKLink Tree - https://linktr.ee/bedevsthelivingdeadBede's Other Podcasts - https://linktr.ee/TheSuperNetworkSam's Other Podcast - Spotify, Apple PodcastsEmail - [email protected]Guest Links:Guest on Twitter/X - @HalfHorrorGuest on Bluesky - @halfpricehorrorCredits:Art Work by Super MarceyPodcast Music Provided by DeNNo
