After a short tangent from Becca about the wonders of the Disney classic Newsies, we continue to tackle the Oscar nominees for 2017. This week we try to sort through the more difficult noms that have troubled us. We debate how to measure art while divorcing it from the artist. Can we reward the work of people like Mel Gibson and Casey Affleck without letting them back into the Hollywood fold? How can we enjoy pop culture when it is so easily tarnished? Is it ever possible to forgive and forget? It's complicated and multifaceted and a question we will continue to struggle with probably ad infinitum.
