BWI Daily: NCAA wrestling and spring practice preview with Greg Pickel

Penn State wrestling steps back under the spotlight this week to pursue their ultimate goal, an NCAA championship. Greg Pickel of Blue White Illustrated joins host Thomas Frank Carr to preview the tournament to get you ready for the four-day event.They start, however, with a quick recap of the Big Ten tournament since it had a significant impact on the Nittany Lions' seeding at nationals. Drew Hilderbrant had an upset loss and found himself much lower in the seeding for the tournament than expected. So what happened? Pickel gives a recap and then explains what happened in the seeding process.Pickel then gets into head coach Cael Sanderson's comments about the inconsistent seeding system and the Nittany Lions' problems with it. Next, Pickel details these affected wrestlers and their road to contention at the weight class.From there, Pickel goes through the rest of Penn State's nine wrestlers that qualified for the tournament and gives his thoughts about the most significant matches or possible draws on their potential schedule. Finally, T-Frank asks him to clarify if seeding issues that Sanderson expressed changed the outlook of Penn State contending for a national championship. He also asks what teams are in contention to upset the Nittany Lions in Detroit. Finally, Pickel gives his thought and stays firm in his prior beliefs about the Penn State wrestling team.From there, they switch gears and look at Penn State spring football, which is only a week away. Greg gives his thirty-thousand-foot view of the situation and tells T-Frank what he wants to know and what he wants to see next week.Next, T-Frank and Pickel discuss the running back and tight end rooms.
