BWI Daily: Offensive line and Blue-White Game preview

The Penn State football team heads into their final week of spring practice, and the BWI Daily Edition is here to get you ready. Host Thomas Frank Carr looks at the 2022 Blue White game, the first in two years, to give you a sense of what to expect on Saturday.T-Frank starts with the Penn State offensive line and how things have gone so far this spring for the Nittany Lions. Then, he plays clips from head coach James Franklin to explain how that group will affect what you see on the field in Beaver Stadium this weekend. To illustrate the problem, T-Frank shows viewers the depth chart at the start of spring practice. Penn State had been very thin at the position before injuries started mounting this year. Without knowing which players have been missing and what amount of time they've missed, he explains the problem broadly.Next, he brings up the issue of installing and refining the offense under second-year coordinator Mike Yurcich. While most fans and media focus on the quarterback's mastery of the scheme, how is the rest of the offense? Specifically, what about the offensive line? With players missing time and depth scarce, has that helped the available players get more reps? Or has it hurt the unit to be down in functionality? T-Frank asked Franklin last week, and he plays Franklin's answer.The following conversation springing from Franklin's answer is about the rest of the offense. Can they effectively pick things up with the line struggling to field a complete unit? Does the defense get quality work going against them? Next, t-Frank dives into one specific aspect of the offense, helped by Yurcich's comments about trying to improve the team's deep passing game a year ago.
