Bylaw Officers Rescue Drowned Eagle | Calgary News

Bylaw officers in Brantford had a wild Monday rescuing a soaked, flightless bald eagle found at the landfill—smelling awful, looking like a drowned rat, and clinging to life after heavy rains knocked her off course. Officers used dirt bikes to herd her through creeks and bushes, finally catching her with jackets, turning a routine call into a gritty wildlife drama. With help from landfill staff, the bylaw team, and Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge, she’s now recovering under care, her feathers stripped of natural oils by grimy goo. Though her outlook is grim at first glance, staff see signs of resilience—her fierce stare hints at a comeback. Full recovery may take weeks, but this eagle’s fight is already inspiring.
