BYU Lands Big Man Kohler | BYU Cougars Basketball News

Jaxon Kohler, a towering 6’10”, 245-pound center from Michigan State, is headed to BYU for his fifth year of eligibility — not because he’s closer to home, but because it’s the perfect fit. He’s drawn to Coach Young’s system and believes it’ll maximize his game, averaging 12.5 points and 8.9 rebounds last season. While his faith was an added bonus, it wasn’t the deciding factor. BYU needed a big man after losing Keba Keita, and Kohler’s arrival is a major upgrade — both offensively and defensively. They edged out Louisville and Kentucky for him, and they’re also bringing in Jakub Urbaniak, a physical Polish project with Shawn Kemp-like potential. With one roster spot still open, the Cougars are primed to build a formidable frontcourt for the upcoming season.
