BYU Lands Veteran Coach Mutombo | BYU Cougars Basketball News

BYU basketball just landed a major coaching coup by bringing in Patrick Mutombo, a seasoned NBA veteran with championship pedigree and deep ties to Kevin Young. After spending time with elite franchises like the Raptors, Suns, and Bucks — and working alongside stars like Kawhi, Giannis, and Ja Morant — Mutombo brings a wealth of professional experience and elite player development chops to Provo. His journey from Kinshasa to Belgium to Metro State, then through overseas pro leagues and the G-League, adds unique perspective. The move fills the void left by Will Voigt’s departure and positions BYU for a stronger recruiting edge and elevated coaching culture.
