In this passage Jesus was speaking to His disciples to help them understand a profound reality: He is the only door through which people can find salvation and have access to God. Not everybody believes that to be true. Not then, when he spoke those words, and not now. Even some who see Jesus as a good teacher and miracle worker stop short of saying that He is the Only Way. Even some Christ-followers can find it awkward to stand on this truth. Jesus is both INCLUSIVE and EXCLUSIVE. He loves everybody… died for the sins of everybody AND he is the Only way for anybody to have access to God. That’s what the Bible teaches. The tension is real. In other words, to gain access to God, he has to enter through Jesus. To be saved, a person must believe in Jesus.
