Cade Smith Hits 300 Ks in Walk-Off Win | Cleveland Guardians News

Cade Smith reached 300 career strikeouts in style, fanning five batters across the ninth and tenth innings to shut down the Tigers and set up Daniel Schneemann’s walk-off single — sealing a 3-2 series win for Cleveland. The Guardians’ bullpen was lights out all series, posting a 2.04 ERA over 17⅔ innings with 22 strikeouts, 10 hits, and 2 walks. Setup men Hunter Gaddis and Erik Sabrowski each threw three scoreless frames, while rookies Austin Peterson and Daniel Espino made strong MLB debuts. Smith’s dominance — striking out three in just 10 pitches in the ninth — capped a historic performance that underscores why this bullpen is the heart of Cleveland’s success.
