O ministro da Fazenda, Fernando Haddad, voltou a defender o combate às renúncias fiscais e aos "ralos que se abriram para drenar os recursos públicos", a fim de arrecadar os cerca de R$ 150 bilhões necessários para conseguir deixar em pé o novo arcabouço fiscal — o conjunto de regras encaminhado ao Congresso para evitar o aumento descontrolado da dívida pública. O chefe da equipe econômica do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) prometeu abrir a "caixa preta" das renúncias e incentivos fiscais, dando maior transparência sobre quem são os maiores beneficiários das isenções.
