Calgary Approves New Multi-Faith Temple | Calgary News

Calgary city council just voted 14-1 to approve a groundbreaking multi-faith temple project — set to rise east of Stoney Trail in the northeast — sparking celebration from the Radha Madhav Cultural Association (ISKCON) who envision a $8M spiritual and community hub for 500 worshippers and more. Despite city staff’s warning that the site lacks basic utilities and could clash with urban plans, councillors sided with community needs and precedent, citing decades of religious presence and rapid neighborhood growth. With $3M already secured, the group now turns to fundraising — a major win that brings the temple’s dream closer to reality, even if construction is still years away.
