Calgary Expands Recycling in October | Calgary News

Calgary’s recycling program just got a major upgrade—starting October 1, you can now toss chip bags, aerosol cans, toothpaste tubes, and foam takeout containers into your blue cart. Thanks to new tech at GFL’s sorting facility and the upcoming provincial Extended Producer Responsibility policy (launching April 2025), this expansion means less waste and more materials being turned into new products—with a bonus: your monthly blue cart fee just dropped by $7. Just remember: everything must be empty and clean. Check calgary.ca/recycling for the full list and sorting guidelines for all carts.
