Calgary Police Chief Mark Neufeld, the Need to Bolster Social Programs & Services, YouTube vs. Eating Disorders

We begin with our monthly chat with Calgary Police Chief Mark Neufeld. This time out, we get an update on what’s being done to address the ongoing issue of violence in the city on both Calgary Transit and city streets.  Still on the topic of violent crimes in the city - will increasing the police presence on Calgary streets improve public safety or should we look at bolstering social programs and services? We discuss the topic with Professor Rashmee Singh from the Department of Sociology and Legal Studies at the University of Waterloo. Finally, ‘YouTube’ announced it will put protocols in place taking aim at kids and eating disorders in their content. We get reaction to the move from the ‘Eating Disorder Support Network of Alberta’ and hear about the resources currently available in the Province when it comes to support and education for eating disorders.
