Calgary Police Test Drones as First Responders | Calgary News

Calgary police are testing a bold new twist on emergency response: drones as first responders. Starting September 10th, two drones will patrol northeast and southeast zones, giving officers real-time aerial intel before they even arrive. This 90-day pilot—approved by Transport Canada—aims to boost situational awareness, reduce risks, and sharpen decision-making during critical incidents. While drones have long aided searches and investigations, this is the first time Calgary’s force is deploying them as immediate on-scene assets, trained officers flying them from secure bases. The goal? Faster, smarter responses that keep communities safer through cutting-edge tech. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
