Calgary Pride Faces $250K Funding Crisis | Calgary News

Calgary Pride is on the brink, needing $250K to survive after a catastrophic funding year—grants down 80%, sponsorships plummeting, and tough ethical decisions forcing them to turn away some groups. This reflects a broader trend: U.S. political pressure is making Canadian companies scale back Pride support, creating a funding gap of $300K from last year alone. While the September parade stands firm, they’ve canceled all off-event programming and launched a community cost-sharing model to stay afloat. More than just a parade, Calgary Pride is essential to LGBTQ+ visibility and resilience—its survival hinges on urgent, collective support.
