Calgary’s Fruit Waste Turns Into Cider | Calgary News
from Calgary News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Calgary’s backyard fruit trees are bursting with apples, pears, and cherries—and locals are turning that bounty into delicious cider. SunnyCider’s annual fruit donor program is underway, accepting donations until October 3rd, aiming to collect 20,000 kg of fruit this year. Started in 2013 by Dennis Scanland in Sunnyside after noticing wasted fruit, the business evolved from applesauce and pies to its signature cider—now celebrating seven years of turning excess into refreshment. They’ll even release three new ciders made entirely from donated fruit. Drop off your harvest Tuesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., at 14th Ave NE. Plus, all pulp gets composted—because sustainability’s part of the recipe. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
