Spiritual midwives are women trained to assist in delivering healthy spiritual pregnancies and spiritual deliverance. The Hebrew term translated as the singular "midwife" is "Hameyaledet," which means "the one, the childbirth assisting woman." This term appears in the Bible three times: in Genesis 35:17, 38:28, and Exodus 1:16. The plural form is "midwives," which occurs only seven times in Exodus 1:15-22, and Psalm 22:9.
