Follow Elio as he is spending his summer in Northern Italy with his family, when the charismatic Oliver arrives to spend the summer his Elio's father's research assistant. At first they are housemates, but their relationship blooms as the summer marches on. One of the more tender love stories that is often criticized for it depicition of a sexual relationship of two males aged 17 and 24, even though age of consent in 1983 Italy was 14.
