Call Your Friends! Part VI

from Let's Get Dressed

In this special series, I’ve been calling some of my dear friends to see how they’re doing in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic. In an effort to provide some sense of comfort and normalcy, these conversations are here to provide you with good companionship while we’re all stuck at home, and to also let you know that we're here with you through it. This week features my friend Connor Holloway, a member of the corps de ballet of the American Ballet Theater. Connor and I met when we were young dancers at an ABT summer intensive in Detroit when we were in our early teens. While I quit by 17, Connor went the full nine yards, and has now performed in some of the company’s best shows like The Nutcracker, Whipped Cream, and all the company’s full length ballets. He also happens to run the company’s Instagram account. Connor and I discuss what it's like to be a performer in a time of solitude, how the arts are dramatically adapting, some sacrifices the whole team at ABT have taken, and how he’s using his role on the social media team to lift the curtain on the ballet world and provide support and love to the all the behind-the-scenes talent that helps bring ABT to life. ABT presents Together Tonight on Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00 EDT. Sending virtual love from my couch to yours! Wounded Warriors of the Cross Gary Pastoral and clergy mental health is a mostly ignored area, especially by those who live their lives as pastors in the clergy. The stigma of mental health within those who serve in the shadow of the cross is something that invokes the stigma of fear. Many of those in the clergy will choose to suffer in their despair rather than reaching out for help. Sometimes those suffering choose to wait until it's too late to get the real help that they need. At Wounded Warriors of the Cross our mission is to lift the stigma and the veil of silence that encompasses clergy mental health and assist those who suffer in silence. Wounded Warriors of the Cross is here to shed the light of Christ's love into those dark places.
