Called to Serve - Kingdom Call
from Free Life Church Hosted by Free Life Church
What does true greatness look like in God's kingdom? This powerful exploration of John 13 and Luke 22 turns our worldly understanding of authority and service completely upside down. We're taken to the night before Jesus faces the cross—within 24 hours of unimaginable suffering—and what does He do? He kneels down and washes His disciples' feet. While carrying the weight of humanity's salvation, Jesus demonstrates that authentic kingdom authority isn't about making ourselves benefactors, but about using every position, gift, and ability to serve others. The contrast is striking: the world's systems use authority for self-benefit, but heaven's perspective reveals that authority exists to bless those under our care. What's remarkable is that even simple acts of service carry redemptive power—they have God's nature woven into them. When we serve with the towel over our arm, washing the feet of others metaphorically and literally, we participate in something profoundly divine. The call here isn't just about filling volunteer slots; it's about embracing the beating heart of the kingdom itself. We're invited to take the position of the younger, showing respect and honor, and to govern by serving. This isn't weakness—it's the path to true greatness that heaven celebrates.
