CambriLearn extends Afrikaans-medium schooling to matric
from Global Economic Press · host Global Economic Press
In this episode of Global Economic Press, Alex Brady discusses an exciting development in online education with CambriLearn's expansion of its Afrikaans-medium schooling to include the final year of high school, known as matric. This initiative will allow Afrikaans-speaking learners to study in their mother tongue from Grade 1 through to the National Senior Certificate, addressing a long-standing challenge for families who previously had to decide whether to continue in Afrikaans or switch to English-medium instruction at a critical academic stage. CambriLearn's approach ensures that lessons, content, assessments, and marking are delivered in Afrikaans by teachers proficient in the language, providing a more cohesive educational experience for students. Additionally, CambriLearn is expanding its Independent Examinations Board offering, adding Grade 11 in 2027 and Grade 12 in 2028, allowing current Grade 10 students to become the school's first Independent Examinations Board matriculants. The school is also introducing a school readiness year, Grade RR, to prepare children for the Foundation Phase. With families in over a hundred countries, CambriLearn's offerings are available internationally, although the final Grade 12 National Senior Certificate examinations must be taken in South Africa. Enrollment for the 2027 academic year is now open, and families can book a consultation through CambriLearn's website at cambrilearn.com.
