Cameroon's schools re-open amid children failing to show up

The reopening of the 2017, 2018 school year has been very timid in Cameroon's English speaking regions with millions of school children failing to show up in educational establishments after 9 months of absence during which they were pressing for the unconditional release of all English speakers arrested in connection with the strike over the overbearing use of French. Last week, president Biya released 3 Anglophone leaders and 52 others, but activists insisted that 20 others should be released and those on exile called back before children will be allowed to go to school.
