Summary

I learned quite a bit during this conversation with Purple Heart Homes Co-Founder John Gallina. In addition to learning about the amazing work Purple Heart Homes is doing for our veterans, I also learned that the National Guard can be deployed to active military combat zones as was the case for John and his unit when they shipped off to Iraq in 2004. We talk a little hunting and mix in some fishing before really diving into void that Purple Heart Homes is filling in the lives of our veterans. John talks about how this organization came to be after he and his buddy (Co-Founder) Dale Beatty were blown up by an anti tank bomb while deployed in Iraq. Dale ended up a double amputee and so upon returning home the need was realized and PHH would begin to change the the lives of our returning heroes.
