Campus Protests, the Uncommitted Vote, & the Leahy Laws

from Philosophical Rebellion Podcast · host William Sanchez

President Biden committed to stopping offensive weapons shipments to Israel if the Israeli Defense Force invades further into Rafah. But the IDF should have been disqualified under US law from receiving US aid since October because of their siege on Gaza. That siege, in violation of the Leahy laws, has resulted in 100% of Gaza’s population facing severe acute food insecurity with reports of mass famine. Children have already died as a result of Israel using starvation as a weapon of war against civilians. Unfortunately the Biden administration exempts Israel from Leahy vetting in the State Department so that we continue to fund those war crimes. I think Biden should instead strictly enforce the Leahy laws on all foreign aid including on Israel. This is a public episode.
