Camus: Are We There Yet?
from Dave's Candid Philosophy Hosted by Dave Larue
Albert Camus is the only philosopher who could look at a man doomed to roll a boulder up a hill for eternity and say, "Honestly? He looks pretty happy." While his existential peers were busy drinking black coffee in Parisian cafes and drowning in profound despair, Camus was out here reminding everyone that life is completely meaningless—so you might as well go get a tan at the beach. He basically looked at the vast, uncaring universe, shrugged, and decided that the ultimate act of rebellion against the crushing weight of existence was to eat a croissant, enjoy a cigarette, and absolutely refuse to take any of it seriously.
