Can saying no be a Way of life? This is the daily Service podcast with Anthony Von Yedigan. One friend told me her one big takeaway from three years and $11,000 of therapy. This is Kelly Corrigan speaking was learn to say no.
That was a big takeaway. And when you do, don't complain and don't explain. Every excuse you make is like an invitation to ask you again in a different way. Kelly Corrigan it will be worth it to learn how to say no as a way of life that we might give our big yess to the things, the people, the God we value most in life.
And the reality is, and I quote Vikram Burma saying no is an art. Master it. Say no. And if it's an art and skill guys, then I, you and I will need time and patience to study it, to learn it and master it.
Here are a few reminders if you already have some tips on your list on how to say no, but this time is way of life. Number one Know the yeses behind the nos that you will say again and again throughout your life. Saying no is in reality a lower means towards a higher end. A bigger yes.
Number two Engage only as your calling leads you, guides you and directs you. Brittany Burgunder you don't have to stay committed to something just because you're good at it. Wow. Just because Jesus was good at healing.
Think about this guys. He didn't stay down here on earth to keep healing. When he was let to go, it was time to go. As Jim White declares and I quote, need does not constitute Constitution call end quote.
Number three. If I'm going to make it away with life, I have to expect bigger temptations as I or as you mature. In fact, be encouraged. The bigger the no, the higher you go.
John Maxwell's Law of Sacrifice give up to go up. Number four Pursue the great or the best by saying no to the good. And this we do daily. Don't settle for less and pay the bill for saying no when someone else is meant to cover it.
Number five. Ask a few good men or women to be your bouncing boards. Right guide Niyo Mentoring how to sharpen your choosing and defending skills. Number six.
Thank friends, clients, family members whose nos nos times I said no to you led you to brighter and better ends. Two more Number seven Insist on personal discipline. Discipline. Saying no to self indulgence is the key to an impactful, focused life.
Take note I said self indulgence. I didn't say say no to self care. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear, say no fear, but of power and love and self control. And finally, number eight, if I'm going to embrace and learn and master say no as a way of life, teach others to learn to say no and how to say no and no to this I will not take no for an answer.
Did you get it? Know the yeses behind the nos. K Engage only as the calling your calling leads you. Either expect bigger temptations as you mature.
E Again, pursue the great, not just the good. P that's keep let's continue. Ask a few good men and women as your inner circle. A thank friends, family members, clients, colleagues for the many times I said no to you because if they do, better write your answer and then I so that's keep at I insist on personal discipline and T Teach others to learn to say and how to say no.
Keep at it. It's a weekend and it's time to reflect on three questions. Number one is what's your basis for saying no? Which means what are the yeses to that you embrace in your life?
Number two, what's to say no to now at this stage of your life? And number three, what's to say yes to? What opportunity, what offer, what request, what even demand? What demand should you say yes to that you might pursue not just the good life, but the great life?
Have a great weekend.
