Can We Eliminate Cervical Cancer?

Every two minutes, a woman dies of cervical cancer. In light of this alarming statistic, we welcome the news that cervical cancer can be eliminated within 40 years through the combined efforts of a HPV vaccination programme and a population screening programme. With Australia projected to be the first country to achieve this, Assoc Prof Marion Saville, cytopathologist and executive director of VCS, a government-funded Health Promotion Charity in Victoria, Australia, shares the lessons we can learn from them.
